Stay Motivated
It's only natural to start slacking off while taking an online course. After all, you're surrounded by your favorite things and people. If you're not careful, though, your grades could suffer. You need to stay motivated throughout the duration of the online course, which you can do in several ways.
Try to come up with a reason why you're taking the class. Whether it's to learn a new skill or the class is required to receive your degree, having this motivation in mind helps you take the course seriously. It's also important to take these classes in a quiet environment, where you can strictly focus on the required tasks at hand.
Maintain Organization
There are a lot of assignments and projects you have to keep up with when taking an online course. As such, it's important to remain organized and keep everything in separate folders. Homework should go in one folder while quiz and test materials should go in another.
Be sure to also label materials based on the date they were completed and the topics they involve. You'll then have a much easier time accessing materials and avoiding penalties for turning assignments in late. Finally, consider storing these materials on a separate file other than your computer. So if your system crashes and you can no longer log in, you can at least use the file on another device.
Establish Connections with Classmates and Instructors
Even though you never go to a brick and mortar site when taking online classes, you should still reach out and get to know fellow classmates online. Not only can they act as an additional resource that you use to study for upcoming exams and quizzes, they can provide essential notes in case you're not able to attend an online session for some reason.
Also reach out to your instructor. The more accustomed you are talking to this professional, the easier it will be to ask them questions about a certain topic or project that's due. Just make sure you respect their office hours, just like you would with instructors who teach in person.
